Confidential Interpreter
A downloadable game for Windows
"Confidential Interpreter" is officially my first game published on the internet ever.
This is a short adventure game made for the $109 Adventure Game Challenge (7-21 September 2025) whose theme was: You are the Wrong Person. The protagonist must be mistaken for someone else. The game must entirely hinge on this mistaken identity.
Prologue:
Step into the shoes of an American sign language interpreter... Navigate between choices to gain more or less trust of the signing Deaf community.
Features:
* A font hand-made by the developer: American hand alphabets with supporting alphabets
* Your selection of choices leads to one of four possible endings
* Some custom-made (and clumsy!) pixelart animations by the developer who isn't any expert in creating pixelart (LOL!)
Controls:
WASD -> move
1 & 2 -> choose choice during dialogue.
Space -> continue monologue. exit monologue when it is done.
Development:
Done in around 24 hours.

A paid ASL animation spritesheet saying "THAT STRANGE THING" was made by
Mark Leo M. @markleoart on Fiverr.
I wished to have complete ASL animations to all applicable sentences and add hand alphabets-related and sign language-related puzzles in this game, but unfortunatley I didn't have enough time and don't afford sign language spritesheets / animations, so I hopefully can earn enough someday to order them, and make this game complete.
Made with GameMaker
AI "Co-pilot" WAS USED IN THE MAKING OF GRAPHICS for game menu and four backgrounds and nurse spritesheet which I had to post-edit largely and exceedingly!!
VERSION 1.0 This game will have future updates and fixes.
*Still under development due to lacking ASL (American sign language) pixelart animations, walking and exploration of items*

Well, you can safely make more games. This was a nice first game, and the deaf/ASL setting was an interesting change. Congratulations on the release!
Thank you :) I'm currently making an update of this game, but I must wait until the voting period is over on 21st Oct, then I can upload a newer version.
Really fun game. It was a unique experience with the ASL text instead of the regular English text, and very fun to get the different endings! Im looking forward to the full version :)
Thank you :) I'm also looking forward to the full version (hehe).
